Martelle Patrick VanHoose, Class of 1957, Passes Away
Martelle PatrickVANHOOSE, 70, died Feb 22, 2010 in
Lubbock, TX, of ALS/Lou Gehrig Disease. She was born May 3, 1939, in
Paintsville, daughter of the late Howard and Blanche Wampler Patrick. She
was a member of the Class of 1957 at Paintsville High School and attended
Eastern State University. She was a homemaker and an artist. She is survived
by her husband of 51 years, Larry, who was press secretary to Gov. Louie B.
Nunn, state director of the Republican Party of Kentucky, and a staffperson
in Washington, DC to U.S. Rep. Larry J. Hopkins and other members of
Congress. Other survivors include two sons, Howard Leslie of Lubbock, TX,
and Larry Todd (Mary Dickey) and grandchildren, Kendall and Connor of
Alexandria, VA. Also, a sister, Beverly P. Wynn of Borden, IN; maternal
aunt, Bettye W. Dotson and uncle, Frank Wampler, both of Charlotte, NC, and
paternal aunt, Ruth Strader, Lexington. Cremation will be in Lubbock and a
memorial service will be held in Lexington at a later date.
